                BROCK       OR       THE ROCK

Brock or the rock

Now that   Brock Lesnar  is signed to a new two-year deal, the WWE is working on storylines for the big man and one of those involves The Rock. According to PWS on Feb. 15, the WWE wants Brock Lesnar vs. The Rock to headline Summer slam 2013.

Apparently, there was some thought on putting the two men into a match at Wrestlemania this year, but since Lesnar did not sign his extension until recently, the WWE went with the smarter Rock vs. John Cena main event for the WWE Championship. There is no word on who Lesnar will fight, although smart money would be on Triple H.

Lesnar made his return to TV by attacking Vince McMahon and dropping him with the F-5 before McMahon could fire Paul Heyman. This story looks to tie into Lesnar's last WWE match, where he beat McMahon's son-in-law Triple H. This would be a revenge match for Triple H and a rematch as well.

The Rock will head into Wrestlemania against John Cena, and good money points to Cena winning the WWE Championship back at the event, evening up the series between the two stars. That then opens up a chance for The Rock and Brock Lesnar to begin a feud.

With both men working limited engagement contracts, they would presumably be on and off TV until the lead in to Summerslam where they would then go hard and heavy against each other. The two men feuded when they were both full time stars as well, as Lesnar was the man who ended Rock's last WWE title reign over ten years ago.

The WWE believes that a Rock vs. Brock Lesnar match would bring in huge Hollywood and mainstream appeal to their second biggest pay per view of the year in Summerslam.

As has been reportedLesnar recently signed a two-year contract extension that will see him perform sporadically in the WWE until WrestleMania XXXI. Details on the amount of appearances have yet to be leaked or disclosed.

F4Wonline previously noted  that officials had planned a Summer feud between Lesnar and CM Punk, so either those plans have been nixed or more likely Brock will face either Rock or Punk at Summer Slam and then move on to the other for WrestleMania XXX.

Luckily for fans, there is quite a bit of history between Brock and Rock for the WWE to utilize.

Lesnar defeated The Rock at SummerSlam 2002 to win his first WWE championship, which would be enough of a lead in to a match between the two this Summer.

If that wasn't enough, Lesnar stated in his Death Clutch autobiography that his losing to The Rock at a Miami house show was a big part of his decision to leave the WWE back in 2004. WWE could use this to create a realistic, gripping storyline between the two.

Al rematch on the 11th anniversary of their first bout works, but "Rock vs Brock" would certainly draw enough interest to warrant a WrestleMania main-event, so it makes sense for WWE to hold the match at either pay-per-view.

And who knows? With the rapid fashion that things change in the WWE it wouldn't even be a huge shock to see Rock move from CM Punk to the next Paul Heyman guy and face Lesnarat this year's Mania.

Only time will tell when we'll see the feud but either way expect it to make a big impact.
