New
advertisement of Ambuja Cement featuring Indian WWE champion the Great Khali
has gone viral. More than 1.2 million people have watched the advertisement on
YouTube within 6 days of its release.

The
1-minute-long mockumentary ad-film narrates the troubles experienced by Khali
because of his gigantic body. The film features several instances of Khali’s
life, such as gym workouts, leaning on to a wall or having dinner, which turn
out to be disastrous for his family and friends. In spite of all the troubles
he creates, his mother supports him by saying, “son, you are special”.
Khali
says in the video that the strength that gave him fame and respect all over the
world itself became his biggest problem. Finally, upon a suggestion from his
aunt, he builds a new house with Ambuja Cement, which solves all his problems.
Bobby Pawar, MD and CCO of Publicis, said, “Ambuja Cement has been about this
giant strength and it has been communicated in previous campaigns. The brief
was to do an extension of the giant strength spot. The boys and girls were
thinking about this, and this was the coolest idea that popped up. We put one
giant’s strength against the other. The biggest Indian is The Great Khali.
That’s where the idea came from. It’s a mockumentary on his life. It’s a
hilarious take on what his life would have been like, in a home that’s not
built to handle his strength. That’s why the tone of the film is how it is.”
The
real name of the Great Khali is Dalip Singh Rana. He was the first Indian
professional wrestler on WWE. He has four Hollywood and two Bollywood credits
in his name.
